SUMMARY:AI and Copyright
DESCRIPTION:Generative AI systems present numerous copyright issues from several different angles. One major issue is the use of copyrightable materials to train generative systems—several lawsuits are pending around this issue. Another is the ownership (if any) of copyrights in outputs from these systems. Yet another issue, less specifically legal in nature, is the ethical implications of using these systems to create new works that resemble existing works. These complex issues are all cropping up at every stage of educational and creative processes, including within the world of editing. Join lawyerbrarian Nancy Sims for an in-depth discussion of AI and copyright.
