Your voice is important, and you and your readers deserve a work that is as close to your vision as possible.
Preferred Genres: Horror & Romance
As a copy editor, I help authors produce high-quality manuscripts by preserving the author's voice and addressing grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, continuity, and style issues. Because authors are so close to their work, they always benefit from a fresh review, and I offer a wealth of experience that includes work on more than 350 books for publishers and indie authors.
I work in service of you, your readers, and the manuscript itself to put the best possible book into the world. A small percentage of those who set out to write a book actually complete that task, so you've already accomplished something spectacular, and I can help you take that further step toward the book of your dreams.
I particularly enjoy working on horror and romance (including extreme horror and open-door romance). I have worked on New York Times bestselling books from major authors and have edited manuscripts for such prestigious publishers as Hachette Book Group and Penguin Random House.
The editing community brings me joy, and I belong to professional organizations such as PEN, the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), and ACES: The Society for Editing. In addition, I am the founder of the small mastermind group Pens & Pilcrows, dedicated to supporting fellow editors and continuing our development in this wonderful craft.
With any copyedit, I track changes in the author's manuscript, generally in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster. I also provide a style sheet detailing the general guidelines for editing and including a word list with proper nouns and manuscript-specific stylings, a character list with character details, and a chapter breakdown/timeline, helpful for addressing continuity issues.
I believe in books and celebrate writers and am thankful to be a part of authors' journeys. Let me know how I can help you!
