Kris Kobe, Editor

I practice a philosophy called Immersion Editing: a high-quality, professional edit combined with a positive personal connection built on trust, helping to bring both the author and their manuscript to their full potential. This approach is scalable to any step in the editorial process, resulting in a collaborative, adaptive process that balances style rules, context, intent, and nuance—cultivating the author's voice.

I love hearing about what makes writers excited! If you’re a nerd about your work, I consider it my job to mirror that. And if you’ve brought your manuscript or other written work as far as you can on your own, I’d love to discuss how much further we can bring it together!

ZONE OF GENIUS:

  • copyediting
  • line editing
  • style sheets

ALSO EXCELLENT:

  • proofreading
  • book interior design / formatting
  • ebook conversion

ALSO OFFERED:

  • limited cover design
  • consultation for self-publishing platforms like Amazon KDP, etc.

***As of early 2025, I am working toward an Author Accelerator Book Coach Certification–Fiction, so I will soon offer book coaching services such as helping writers with:

  • planning/outlining story ideas
  • regular accountability and feedback on new pages
  • manuscript evaluation
  • developmental editing
  • developing query plans to approach agents

All with actionable next steps to keep you moving forward with your project.

BACKGROUND:

I came to editing via a nontraditional vector: graphic design. And that visual experience with layout and typography informs my editorial work, allowing me to scrutinize text visually on top of editorial considerations. Add in my going to a Spanish immersion school as a kid and my love of audiobooks and language podcasts, I’m an armchair linguistics enthusiast with a penchant for editing.
