When the Author Is Not a Writer

How to Work with the Unexpected Storyteller

Many young editors dream of working with the next great writer. But a glance at the best-seller lists shows that a huge share of publisher income comes from books authored by NON-writers. Shepherding such projects requires unique skills most editors learn only through experience—if at all.

Karl Weber has built a career as an editor and publisher working with authors including CEOs, politicians, social activists, scientists, lawyers, and performers. Weber will illustrate his lessons with stories from his work with authors such as:

  • President Jimmy Carter
  • Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus
  • Attorney/women’s rights advocate Meg Groff
  • Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella
  • White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan
