I started my career in the newspaper business working mainly in sales and marketing, copyediting, and ad design. These skills led to earning a job as graphic designer for an advertising agency. Several years later the trajectory of my working life changed, and I earned my master’s in education. I was an educator for sixteen years, mainly as a reading interventionist in a Title I school.
The publishing world has changed a lot since I first started, but it's an environment I genuinely miss, so I became a freelance copyeditor. I earned my certificate of copyediting from UCSD Extended Studies and then successfully completed Copyediting for Fiction and The Business of Copyediting. I'm excited to share my education and experience with you!
I edit both fiction and nonfiction. My favorite fiction genres include thriller, romance, speculative fiction, mystery, and historical fiction. With regard to nonfiction, I love editing self-help books, memoirs, and cookbooks. If you're not sure if your manuscript fits into any of those categories, please ask!
If you're looking for an empathetic editor who recognizes and respects your unique voice, let me know how I can help you with your next project!
