Ashley S. Hattle is an award-winning author, writer, and editor. Her work is published in Nature, INvisible Project, and Spill the Ink magazines, and she has written hundreds of articles for online and in-print publications. She worked as a full-time staff writer and senior editor for nearly ten years before veering into freelance and fiction work. Her debut nonfiction book on cluster headaches won two awards: “Excellence in Education” and “Advocate of the Year,” presented at Brown University. Critics of NYC Midnight writing challenges have hailed short stories by Hattle as “exhilarating,” “ingenious,” and “alluring and evocative.” She is a five-time semifinalist of the NYC Midnight Short Story Challenge and lives in Michigan with her family, a dog who thinks she is a cat, and a cat who thinks she’s a dog.
Hattle graduated with a B.A. in Journalism from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2014 and worked in medical, legal, and dental marketing and insurance news. She’s freelanced for nonprofit organizations, advertising agencies, and magazines, including grant writing, short fiction works, online content, press releases, and greeting cards. She has published two books and written two more in the editing phases.
Hattle has professional experience writing and editing in AP style, APA, AMA, and MLA. She’s currently enrolled in the Editing Certificate program at the University of Chicago, emphasizing the Chicago Manual of Style and Developmental Editing.
