I have been editing and writing non-fiction for over 20 years. Self-help books are a specialty–I used to be an editor at Llewellyn Publications, editing books about herbs, dieting, astrology, and magic. Editing new authors who are creating their first self-help books is such fun. At this time, I am editing four books from authors enrolled in a New Authors Book Writing Program. Helping authors with the writing process, including finding ways to break through writer's block, is one of my gifts. Being a book coach as well as a developmental editor is becoming a greater part of my business. Line-editing and proofing are still some bread and butter ways of putting together the different income streams. Large corporations often hire me to do tech writing or tech editing for contracts lasting a few months or perhaps a year. These contracts are wonderful opportunities to be less solitary, and I find it stimulating to collaborate with others in a business setting. Networking with other editors is always something I enjoy, so feel free to contact me–even if you simply want to hear another human voice who understands the challenges and joys of being an editor.
