Temperly Editorial is a boutique editorial agency specializing in developmental editing, query submission strategy, and publishing consultation.

From working as a Literary Agent at New Leaf Literary & Media, to speaking on panels and leading workshops at SCBWI, Columbia University, Yale University, Writer’s Digest, and Horror Writers Association, Jaida is a passionate independent book editor who loves bringing stories to life.

With over 10+ years of editorial experience, Jaida has had the pleasure of working with a diverse and talented list of authors, including Kim Liggett, Elly Blake, Jeff Jackson, Malcolm Hansen, Kirsten Hubbard, Allison Rushby, and Catherine Hapka, among others. Many are New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, and regional bestsellers, as well as winners and finalists of many prizes given throughout the world, including the Bram Stoker Award and the First Novelist Award from the Black Caucus of the American Library Association.

Jaida enjoys editing both Adult and Children's fiction, with an affinity for fantasy, magical realism, mystery, horror, historical, and science fiction genres. She has a particular knack for helping authors with plotting, world-building, pacing, and character development.

Originally from a small town in Wisconsin, she traded milking cows for medical school but eventually found her way into book publishing in NYC. She currently splits her time between New York City and Berlin.
