I am a fiction and nonfiction book editor with a strong interest in editorial project management. Clients to date have included both independent publishing houses and self-publishing authors. As an editorial and publishing professional, I have a passion for working with words whether it be writing, reading, reviewing, revising, or successfully managing such projects.
My philosophy for life is to never stop learning; I accept that no matter how much I know about any given field or task, there's always someone with more experience who can help me reach that next level. My top skills include content creation, developmental editing, proofreading, and creative writing. In an endless pursuit of growth, I remain open to ideas and principles that differ from my own.
I have a BA in English & Creative Writing/Publishing from the University of Iowa, and a specialized certificate in Publishing (2020) from the Denver Publishing Institute. I also have a specialized certificate in Copyediting (2024) through UCSD, and I am a little more than halfway through my master's degree in Professional Creative Nonfiction Writing through Denver University. I strive to write daily, with some of those writings posted on my 500 Words blog.
I continue to participate in conferences and other learning opportunities when possible and am a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), Professional Editors Network (PEN), San Diego Professional Editors Network (SD/PEN), the San Diego Writers & Editors Guild, and ACES: The Society for Editing.
