I began freelancing as an academic copy editor, but now I mostly do heavier editing, focusing on helping authors better connect with their readers. I also coach writers—for example, I’ve helped junior faculty work through the process of turning their dissertations into monographs—and ghostwriting, which typically means helping scholars write op-eds based on their research. Clients have included the Brookings Institution, the American Enterprise Institute, the Foundation for Child Development, the American Academy of Political and Social Science, and many individual scholars. Ghostwritten op-eds have appeared in publications including the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Huffington Post, and Education Week.
