I create engaging books and curriculum materials—from first outlines and drafts to complete products that young readers, students, and teachers can use in practical and inspirational ways. I love brainstorming concepts, guiding authors, and working with copy editors, designers, and artists along the way.
As an author, I've written both fiction and nonfiction books for children and young adults about immigrant and biracial experiences, scientific concepts and discoveries, momentous historical events, and civil rights struggles. I'm represented by Abigail Samoun at Red Fox Literary. My books have received several starred reviews and have been named a Minnesota Book Awards Finalist, Pedro and Daniel Intersectionality Book Awards Finalist, Mathical Book Prize honor award, YALSA Quick Pick for Reluctant Readers, a Book of Note from the TriState Review Committee, and Junior Library Guild selections. I've also written ELA state assessment passages, student materials, and teaching materials for curriculum and book publishers.
As an editor, I've worked on many K-12 books, lesson plans, college textbooks, and business books. I've also served as a bias and sensitivity reader for college textbooks, edited translated Korean picture books for cultural appropriateness and American English grammar, and edited college course materials. And I've managed many publishing projects, coordinating the work of contractors, adhering to a budget, negotiating with printers, and ensuring products are delivered on schedule.
