Kim Robinson
Misty City Editing

I'm Kim Robinson and I’m a professional freelance editor living in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. I received formal training in editing at the University of Washington and am a graduate of the rigorous Certificate in Editing program. I’m a member of the Northwest Editors Guild, ACES: The Society for Editing, and the Editorial Freelancers Association.

I work on book-length fiction and nonfiction. Every and all genres are on the table, including, but not limited to children’s and young adult, graphic novels, cookbooks, memoirs/biographies, horror, mystery/thriller, LGBTQIA+, poetry, romance, and science fiction/fantasy. I work on web content like blogs and online magazines as well. If you have any type of content that needs editing, contact me and let’s talk about it! My clients include independent authors, publishers, and small presses.

I provide a wide range of services from developmental editing, to copyediting, to light proofreading. There are myriad terms used for all the styles and stages of editing. You can find a detailed list and full descriptions of all the services I provide on the services page. If you don’t see what you are looking for, or if you are unsure of the type of service you need, please contact me and we can figure it out together.

My editing style is to learn about you, my author, and support you in your project goals. I ask lots of questions about you, your project, and what it is you want from me. I do not pass judgement or criticize. I respect my clients as writers. I encourage you and offer praise for your strengths. I want you to feel excited about my edits because they are only there to make your work shine. It is not my job to change your voice, but to amplify it. I remove only what could distract the reader and take them out of a story. I want to help make sure that your chosen audience reads your story until the very end.
