My clients have included Cantata Learning, Coffee House Press, Lerner Publishing Group, Penguin Young Readers, A Public Space, Penn State Journals, University of Notre Dame Press, and the Quarto Group; hybrid and self-publishers such as Beaver's Pond Press and Wise Ink Publishing; and corporate and individual authors. While I edit on many topics and at many levels, I have concentrated experience in creative nonfiction, social and cultural history, LGBTQIA+ interest, personal and professional development, and memoir; picture books, children's nonfiction, and YA fiction; and genre fiction including speculative, science fiction/fantasy, and thrillers.
Before going solo, I worked in-house in roles ranging from typesetter to production editor to acquisitions editor to warehouse and distribution manager, covering nearly the entire publication process. I hold a BA in English, German, and Women's Writing from St. Olaf College (Northfield, MN) and an MA in Literary Publishing from Hamline University (St. Paul, MN); between the two degrees I completed the Radcliffe Publishing Course. In addition to PEN, I am a member of the EFA and ACES, and I serve on the board of the Minnesota Book Publishers Roundtable.
Like any good book geek, I enjoy reading a wide range of topics, from speculative fiction to history to creative nonfiction. I am a semiprofessional vocalist, and my work as a fiber artist drives special interests in historic embroidery and hand spinning. I bring the joy of passionate craft to my editing work so that my clients can explore their own passions through confident writing.
