As a member of PEN, I have one goal for your great writing, and that is to make it even better. I particularly enjoy working with speculative fiction and dissertations. I use The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th ed. and Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, 11th ed. as my style guides. For dissertations, I apply APA, 7th ed. I can also serve as your substantive editor, making many helpful suggestions about language, clarity, and stylistic choices. And if your manuscript needs even more assistance, I can put on my developmental editor's hat to look at aim, content, and structure. I have a BA in English, doctoral study in experimental social psychology, and advanced study in editing. I give painstaking attention to detail, have a finely tuned eye and ear for word choice and sentence structure, and am committed to clarity. I work at the level you need, always with respect for your voice. If you provide me a sample of your manuscript, I will do a free mini-evaluation. Send me a brief description (swfr@minn.net) of what your manuscript needs, and together we will formulate a plan of action that will give your words the wings they deserve!
