Hi! My name is Nicole Whisler. I help writers craft stories they’re proud of—and reassure them that it’s okay to end a sentence with a preposition.
I’m a developmental editor and book coach who specializes in working with writers of fantasy novels.
Whether you intend to self-publish or publish traditionally, I will work to ensure your story has a “beating heart”—a theme or relevance that draws readers in and resonates deep within them. Many books don’t reach this level of emotional connection. I aim to build honest, lasting relationships with writers who want to write the best books they can. As a fantasy writer myself (I’ve written three novels and am working on my fourth), I understand the challenges that come with preparing your project for publication. I design my specific, constructive comments to help you dig deep and unearth the story you were meant to tell.
Story construction has always fascinated me. After graduating summa cum laude in 2010 with a B.A. in English Education, I taught English and creative writing for six years. Currently, I co-organize a writing critique group and am a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association in addition to PEN.
