Duncan Heights Editing

My name is Viannah E. Duncan, and I’m an editor and writer who wants to help you bring out your best work. With more than fifteen years of experience editing and writing for audiences large and small, I can confidently say that you’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for professional editing services at affordable prices. I specialize in writing, developmental editing, line editing, copyediting, proofreading, sensitivity reading, and literary coaching.

I have a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing with a focus on poetry, creative nonfiction, and small press publishing. My clients range from individuals just starting their writing journeys to independent publishing houses to corporations and government entities. I believe in lifelong learning and am constantly striving to improve my skills. I am proficient in several style guides—including Chicago, APA, AP, and MLA—and can easily adjust for a writer’s preferred style.

As a published author myself, I know what it’s like to send a piece of writing out into the world. I want to help you find your story and give the best chance to be published as I can. That being said, my services are not a guarantee of publication.

Currently based just north of Washington, DC, I have also lived in New York City and Los Angeles. When I’m not editing or writing, I’m likely reading for pleasure. I enjoy good food and good conversation, etymology, Japanese culture and anime, dystopian fiction, narrative poetry, and American history, among other things.
